Hotel Griffon's Green Team

Hotel Griffon’s “Green Team” participated in a beach cleanup sponsored by the National Park Service this past Saturday at San Francisco’s Baker Beach. It was a beautiful day to be out and doing some good for the environment. Participating were Dorothy DeGuzman, Jose Cruz, Cathy Estelle and Hanna, Norbert and Annette Mede.

Hotel Griffon Announces Employee of the First Quarter 2012!




Jose Cruz has been selected as Employee of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2012. Jose has been in the engineering department since joining the Griffon team in 2008. Jose has been instrumental in the many projects and upgrades constantly happening at the Hotel Griffon. Jose is also in charge of the Preventative Maintenance program and provides well maintained rooms for our guests.

Amanda Fietz New Employee of Greystone and The Bristol San Diego!

Amanda Fietz: BIO

First and foremost, thank you to the entire Greystone team for greeting me with such a warm welcome! It is has been a fabulous first few weeks at The Bristol and I couldn’t be more excited about growing with the company. Alison has asked that I write a quick “blurb” about myself, so here it is in a nutshell! :

To start - I grew up in the Temecula wine country, where my family has a 10 acre working strawberry farm.  I’m a runner, a surfer, a Yoga addict, a traveler, and a major foodie! I love good wine, good coffee, and dark chocolate. My family and friends are my highest priority, so I spend most of my free time with them.

My path to The Bristol began about six years ago, where I started my first job in hospitality at the front desk at The West Inn and Suites in Carlsbad (North San Diego County). From there, I moved up to Los Angeles, and worked through college at The Thompson Beverly Hills in Los Angeles. I then finished my schooling  at the Business and Commerce Academy at the Sorbonne in Paris, France, and moved back home to San Diego in 2009 with degree from UCLA in Linguistics and French, and a minor in Italian Studies. I was incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to live abroad in both Paris and Florence for a year combined, and over time became fluent in French and Italian. During this time, I discovered I suffered from a serious travel bug, and have made it a priority to satiate it ever since! In the past 3 years, I have travelled and backpacked through over 25 countries throughout Europe, Central and South America, and Asia. My best stories come from Bangladesh and Tibet.

After college, I returned to The West Inn and Suites, in Carlsbad, California where I worked as the assistant to the Director of Sales, with a focus on corporate travel and the SMERF market. I then moved onto The Grand Del Mar Resort in Del Mar, San Diego, where I developed my career and passion for hospitality for the next three years.  During my time at The Grand, I covered operations being a front desk agent, a reservations agent, to VIP concierge, to Executive Assistant for the President of Manchester Financial, and finally transitioning to the sales team. I then decided it was time to keep the momentum moving forward in sales, at which point I was introduced to Arlene and Greg, and the rest is history! My journey (although not very long!), has been both fun and interesting, and I am humbled to be where I am today at The Bristol Hotel.

Thank you all for allowing me to join the family of Greystone Hotels! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask! I hope to learn more about each and every one of you as well in the near future.

Andrew Berg has joined the Greystone Hotels family as the new Senior Sales Manager of Marriott’s  Fairfield Inn and Towneplace Suites in Bend, Oregon. Andrew brings a varied background with a great amount of experience in both Sales and Marketing. His experience includes positions held in sales, marketing, promotions, operations and management in the hospitality, finance, F&B, CPG, and the new media industries. Recent highlights of his career include: a Sales and Marketing territory with Sysco Foods of Portland; Planning, developing and opening, a restaurant in Bend, Oregon with Restaurant Development Company; Marketing & Promotions Manager for Red Bull Energy Drink in the Colorado market and Chief Financial editor for an e-commerce website with Sony Music Entertainment.
Andrew has lived in Bend for the past 7 years with his wife and 3 daughters ages 7, 6 and 2 and is very excited to be a part of the team and to get out and build the business.

Omar Davis celebrates his 6 year anniversary at the Inn at Union Square. Omar is a perennial guest favorite with constant mentions on the blogs and online reviews. Omar is a hospitality natural, always willing to help a guest perfect their stay in San Francisco. Thank you Omar for six excellent years and stay cool.

Bette has more than 25 years combined experience in the hospitality and event industry. Her strong knowledge of event and meeting planning acquired by owning and operating businesses in Pittsburgh, PA led her to the hotel industry after relocating to CA. With a strong knowledge of sales and management skills she has brought success to her current position as Director of Sales at the Élan Hotel Los Angeles, a boutique hotel located at the edge of West Hollywood and Beverly Hills.

Her expertise in customer service has gained her favor with her many corporate clients that travel to LA on a regular basis. With a focus on strategic planning skills to further business goals, she is fast becoming the corporate ‘go to’ gal for hotel stays in LA.

She has held positions as VP of an insurance agency and owned and operated several businesses in Pittsburgh, PA. Upon relocating to Southern CA she held a position as Senior Sales and Events Manager at the Irvine Marriott, Director of Events and Catering at the Long Beach Petroleum Club and her current position as Director of Sales of the Élan Hotel Los Angeles.

Being very active in the Jewish Community in Pittsburgh, PA, it was exciting to find the LA Jewish Chamber of Commerce. It feels like home when she attends any of their functions. From the first gathering there was a warm welcome and extensions of friendship. Not only does Bette network from a business standpoint she has gained personal friendships through this chamber.

Bette attended the University of Pittsburgh as well as Art Institute. She is active in industry associations. In her spare time she loves to paint furniture, read, and visit museums and art galleries. She is the mother of a grown daughter who is the owner of 2M Consulting, a consulting and event planning firm specializing in non-profits, in Beverly Hills.

Taxes stressing you out?  Here's some comedic relief courtesy of Keith & Toya at the Creekside Inn.  Keith and Toya dressed as evil IRS Agents. They even gave out Gift Bags containing chocolate, Gummy Band Aids, 2 free drink coupons at Cibo, a package of thumb tax (er… tacks) and Alka-Seltzer! Speechless!
