Hotel Griffon's 'Green Team' does Recology Tour

Members of the Hotel Griffon Green Team, Matt Swenson, Kevin McHale and Milagros Rivera, completed a site tour of Recology’s waste and recycling program in San Francisco. They visited a recycling sorting facility, transfer station and landfill to gain a better perspective on the results and effects of our garbage disposal, composting  and recycling efforts. They have shared what they learned with other members of the Green Team but unfortunately were unable to keep the cool orange vests and hard hats….

Army Commendation Medal for John Keeling

We are so proud of John Keeling, son of Vicky Keeling, Executive Housekeeper at the Bristol Hotel. John was recently awarded The Army Commendation Medal with Valor for exceptionally valorous achievement while serving as a vehicle driver in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Despite being under fire, suffering shrapnel wounds to the leg, and the incapacitation of his vehicle commander, PFC Keeling without hesitation and of his own initiative climbed back into his turret and his actions secured the safety of his fellow soldiers.  Only after his fellow soldiers were safely evacuated did he allow himself to leave the engagement area.
His actions were recognized by the Department of the Army, and he was awarded The Army Commendation Medal on February 2, 2012.

Exceptional Service: Bertrand Newson

The following was posted on TripAdvisor:

Grateful for the goodwill shown towards a solo traveller in need!
I would like to commend King George Hotel for their act of goodwill during my stay in San Francisco two months ago. I had lost my wallet on the second last day of my trip and had to make several long distance call to deactivate my credit cards. Although I was carrying some cash, it was not sufficient to pay off my hotel bill which included the long distance call charges. I told the counter staff Manyvanh of my situation. She then directed me to the General Manager Mr Bertrand Newson who made the swift decision to waive my long distance call charges. I couldn't believe my ears! My initial reaction was of both relief and disbelief as such act of goodwill is unheard of where I'm from.

As you might expect, I thanked Mr Bertrand profusely. I felt I have to share this story on tripadvisor so that more travelers know that King George Hotel has great staffs who showed initiative in rendering assistance to their guests in distress.

Thank you Bertrand for your compassion and showing our guest's exceptional service!

Exceptional Service: Deb & Giselle at the Hotel Wilshire

Thanks to Deb & Giselle at the Hotel Wilshire for helping a valued guest experience superior customer service!  Please read below:

Hello Eric,

I am writing to you in regards of my recent stay over memorial day weekend. As you recall, I didn't have such a pleasant stay the first time around, so I decided to give it another try.

To my surprise, it wasn't like the first time around! Everything was speedy and on point. Everyone was listening to what I had requested and went beyond that. The room was fantastic. Much bigger than the one I had before! I wish I was just in there all day, but due to my job I couldn't!

One thing that stood out to me was checking out. It was like last time where there was only one person attending the front desk, and she saw that it was going to be longer than your average wait, so she called out Giselle to help me. Wonderful! She was very attentive and gaged her time right!

Lastly I wanted to tell you about Debra. She is amazing. She took my calls off the clock to ensure that she could set everything up for me when I arrived. She even put up with my schedule changes. What a doll. I must've drive her crazy, but I thank you for employing such a wonderful patient lady at the helm of this hotel. You found the right person.

You guys did not have to accommodate anything for me. I didn't even think you would read my email, but you did. And I thank you for listening to your customers.

I will definitely be back in the future as well as tell all my friends about my recent experience.

Have a nice day and a great week.

Regards,
Jeff C.
